Wii Maraca Controllers

Samba de Amigos

Looks like Nintedo is working on maraca controllers for the game “Samba de Amigos”. According to GoNintedo, the box is too big for just the game, that’s why they believe that soon Wii will have new controllers.

But more important… I was wondering…

Why maracas??

The game is called “Samba de Amigos”, I was expecting something like a pandeiro (link for those of you that doesn’t know what that is) controller. As far as I know, and being the daughter of a samba lover and brazilian I know a lot about it, maracas are not used to play samba.

Seems like Nintendo made some mistake. They are probably thinking that Brazilians use maracas, or that the Mexicans invented samba. By the draw on the box, they think that Mexicans invented samba. Noticed that the monkey is using a sombrero (link so you can get more intelligent)?

Eu estava me perguntando…

Well, actually, Nintendo hasn’t make any mistakes.

First of all, it isn’t a new controller, just a plastic cover for the wiimote that looks like a pair of maracas.
Secondly, Nintendo couldn’t ever do anything wrong with this game, because it was made by Sega.
But, most important of all, this isn’t an original game for the Wii. [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samba_de_amigo]Samba de Amigo[/link] is a game made by Sega for the arcades in 1999, later released for the dreamcast, one year later.
All Sega did was re-release a successful game for the newer generations consoles.
I get you point, sombreros are form mexico and samba is a brazilian music genre (I am brazilian too, you know). But that doesn’t matter, when you get the controllers in you hands and start playing latin songs (like “macarena”, “copa de la vida”, “oye como vá”, etc and even brazilian ones like “magalenha” or “mas que nada”), you forget about all that stuff. The game is just too damn fun.
